When I worked at a photo lab you could tell who the really frugal customers were. They would have Christmas photos at the beginning of the roll, Easter photos in the middle and at the end of the roll, a picture or two from the following Christmas.
Oh and this was on a roll of 12 exposures.
Our family got the camera out more often than that. One of the sure occasions documented in pictures was when the kids dressed up for Easter.
My sisters and wife all have childhood photos wearing dresses, gloves and bonnets standing in the front yard staring at the camera, hyped up on Easter eggs. The shiny plastic shoes lasted through the day but could not stand up to kid level wear and soon broke.
The day had already peaked, with the Easter egg hunt, the next hours would be spent in church wearing uncomfortable clothes.
I forget if they were holding Easter baskets or plastic patent bags. I was busy trying to keep the clip on necktie from pinching my throat.
A girl’s whole outfit could be put together about $10. Put it on your BankAmericard or Master Charge. According to the Westegg inflation calculator that pencils out to $60.99 in 2009 dollars.
